키워드를 모르고 영어를 한다?

우리나라 영어교육은 철저히 독해 위주이다.
그러므로 문어체(written English)는 그런 대로 좀 하지만 구어체(spoken English)는 대부분이 공부를 포기하고 만다.
그러나 다음과 같은 키워드 50개의 용법을 제대로 알면 구어체가 문어체보다 익히기 더 쉽다는 것을 알게 된다.

1.about, 2.above, 3.after, 4.across, 5.against, 6.ahead, 7.along, 8.among, 9.apart, 10.(a)round, 11.as, 12.aside, 13.at, 14.away, 15.back, 16.backward(s), 17.before, 18.behind, 19.below, 20.beneath, 21.beside, 22.between, 23.beyond, 24.by, 25.down, 26.for, 27.forth, 28.forward(s), 29.from, 30.in, 31.inside, 32.into, 33.(a)like, 34.of, 35.off, 36.on, 37.out, 38.outside, 39.over, 40.past, 41.through, 42.to, 43.together, 44.toward(s), 45.under, 46.up, 47.upon, 48.with, 49.within, 50.without

키워드의 용법은 매우 다양하지만 대략 다음과 같이 나눌 수 있다.

(1) 소사(particle)       ex) He is away. He is in. He is off.
(2) 전치사(preposition)  ex) in the room, on the desk
(3) 수식어/부속어   ex) the book on the desk, two miles·about

☞  소사(particle)로만 사용되는 키워드(8)
6.ahead, 9.apart, 12.aside, 14.away, 16.backward(s), 27.forth, 28.forward(s), 43.together

☞ 전치사(preposition)로만 사용되는 키워드(11)
5.against, 8.among, 11.as, 13.at, 21.beside, 16.for, 29.from, 32.into, 34.of, 47.upon, 48.with

☞ 소사와 전치사에 공통으로 사용되는 키워드(31)
1.about, 2.above, 3.after, 4.across, 7.along, 10.(a)round, 15.back, 17.before, 18.behind, 19.below, 20.beneath,  22.between, 23.beyond, 24.by, 15.down, 30.in, 31.inside, 33.(a)like, 35.off, 36.on, 37.out, 38.outside, 39.over, 40.past, 41.through, 42.to,  44.toward(s), 45.under, 46.up, 49.within, 50.without

그러므로 위 소사로 사용되는 키워드만을 모으면 모두 39개이다.
이밖에 키워드끼리 결합된 back on, from behind 등의 복합소사가 있다.
