월남전

▣ 영국 런던 타임즈에서 바라본 월남전의 한국군 ▣

If the Korean forces had taken charge of the whole of South Vietnam

or the U.S forces had drawn a lesson from "Go Boi",

the Vietnam war would already have been won.

When one takes a ride in a car for 96 kilometers in the pitch-back

dark,there is not a single sign of rifle shooting or ambush attack.

None but the Korean soldiers could do so anywhere in South Vietnam

만일 한국군이 전 월남을 장악하였거나

미군들이 "고보이" 교훈을 배울 수 있었더라면 월남전은 벌써 이겼을 것이다.

칠흙같은 어둠속을 96키로나 자동차로 달려도

총격도 복병기습의 기미도 전혀 보이지 않는다.

월남 지역의 그 어느곳에서도 그와 같이 할자는 한국군 이외는 아무도 없다.

※ "고보이 교훈"이란?...

맹호부대 포병대대가 퀴논(Qui Nhon)근처 고보이(Go Boi)평야에

건기에도 농사를 지을 수 있도록 고보이댐을 건설해주는 공사를 했습니다.

열대지방 베트남의 2모작 농사에서 3모작이 가능하게한 퀴논 영구댐이었죠.

전투부대가 대민지원을 하는것을 보고 영국기자가 놀랐나 봅니다.

▣ 미국 저널지의 시각으로 본 월남의 대한민국 국군 ▣

What would happen of six hundred thousand Koreans were exclusively

conducting the Vietnam war? only fifty thausand Koreans repelled the

enemy from their strategic responsibility area just overnight during

the enemy's Tet offensive...... The central coast area which Viet Cong

had been occupying since their anti-French war is now completely

under Koreans's control.

월남의 모든 사람을 다 제쳐놓고 60만 한국군에게 전쟁을 맡겨 보는 것이 어떨까?

5만에 불과한 한국군은 적의 구정 공세 기간중 전술 책임구역 내에 침입한 적을

단 하룻만에 격퇴했다...... 베트콩의 항불전쟁 이래 베트콩에 장악되어 있던

중부 해안 지대가 지금은 한국군에 의하여 완전히 통활되고 있다.

▣ 미 뉴스위크지가 바라보는 한국군 ▣

The Americans in South Vietnam give the Koreans top markes both as

fighting men and for their pacification efforts.

Indeed, some Americans who have worked with the ROKs believe that

it would not hurt the U.S to study their methods.

"It's a little bit like being a teacher and having an extraor dinary student."

월남에 있는 미국인들은 전투에 있어서나 평정사업에 있어서나

한국군을 최고로 높이 평가한다.

사실 한국군과 함께 작전을 수행해본 일부 미군들은 미군이 한국군의 방법(전술)을

배워도 좋으리라고 믿게 되었다.

"마치 미국은 한국이라는 비범한 학생을 가르치는 선생이 된 거와 같습니다.

어느날 아침 교실에 와서 선생님 미국보다 학생인 한국군이 앞서 있다는 사실을

발견한 것과 같읍니다" 라고 한 미국 관리는 심각하게 말했다.

▣ 67년 미국 옵져버지가 바라보는 한국군대 ▣

It was in June 17 years ago that the North Korean Communists,

attacking across the 38th parallet, began a full-scale invasion of

the Republic of Korea. The South Korean Army, at that time,

was much like the South Vietnamese Army of today.

Now, many years later and many miles form the Pusan perimeter,

the Bay of Inchon, the frozen waters of the Yalu and the hills of

Chorwon.the ROK Armed Forces are again facing Communists in combat.

공산군이 38선을 넘어 남침할 당시 이 한국군은 지금의 월남군과 같았다.

그러나 17년이 지난 지금, 한국군은 얼어붙은 압록강을 떠나,

철원의 고지를 떠나, 그리고 인천항, 부산항을 떠나 수천만리 이역땅에서

다시금 공산주의자와 싸우고 있다.

Captured Viet Cong orders now stipulate that contact with the Koreans

is to be avoided at all costs unless a Viet Cong victory is 100% certain.

Never defy Korean soldiers without discrimination, even when are not

armed, for they all well trained with Taekwondo.

노획한 베트콩 문서에 의하면 베트콩은 100% 승리의 확신이 없는 한

한국군과의 교전을 무조건 피하도록 지시가 되어 있다.

한국군은 모두 태권도로 단련된 군대이니 비무장한 한국군인에게도

함부로 덤비지 마라.

U.S has found a valuable ally in the South Koreans.

They're rugged fighter- and more. As "combat politicians" the ROKs make

of their Oriental kinship whth Vietnamese.

Americans feel they can learn some lessons.

미국은 한국이라는 귀한 동맹국을 찾아 내었다.

그들은 건강한 투사,그 이상이다.

싸우는 정치인들로서 한국인은 동양에서 월남인들과 가장 친근해졌을 뿐더러

미국은 어떤 교훈을 한국으로 부터 배울 수 있으리라 느끼게 되었다.

▣ 사이공 포스트가 바라보는 한국군 ▣

Koreans killing ratio has been 15:1, and they drove out the enemy from

the swamp area of Vin Dhing, where both the French and Vidtnamese

were not successful during the past 20 years.

The basic characteristic of Koreans is their unending fighting spiril.

It is not at all surprising that the enemy is avoiding contact with

the Tiger,White Horse and Blue Dragon Warriors.

Capured enemy documents indicate that the VC are instructed not

to make contact with Koreans.

한국군은 우군 피해에 대해서 15:1 이라는 비율로 적을 사살했으며,

프랑스와 월남이 20년간 시도하다 실패한 빈딩성의 늪지 해안으로부터 적을 추격,

격파시켰다.

기본적인 한국인의 특성으로 지적할 만한것은 불굴의 정신이다.

맹호,백마,청룡용사들에 대하여 적이 조심하고 있다고 해서 이상할 것은 없는 것이다.

노획된 베트콩이나 월맹군의 문서에 의하며 한국군과는 가급적 접전을 피하도록

전 병사들은 명령 받고 있는 것이다.

▣ 월남 띠엔 반지가 바라보는 한국 군대 ▣

The central area of this country where ROK Forces are stationed is

best secured area.

ROK soldiers are brave enough to guard the area of their responsibility

against the enemy, who is skilful in particualr tactics.

They are also mutually understandable to the regional people,

and experienced ROK surgeons kindly take medical care of the people.

한국군이 주둔하고 있는 중부는 가장 안전한 곳이다.

한국군은 아주 특술한 전술을 가진 적에 대하여 방심하지 않고 경계를 하고

있는 대담한 군인이다.

또한 지방 농민과 잘 어울리고 농사일에는 모도 심어주고 우수한 군의관은

대민 진료를 열심히 해주고 있다.

a free future for South Vietnam is tangible proof that

both the confidence and assistance.

America placed in Free Korea 17 years ago was the wisest of investments.

자유 월남의 장래를 위한 한국이 이룩해 온 커다란 공헌은 17년전 미국이 한국에

심었던 신뢰와 협조가 헛되지 않았다는 확실한 증명이 되고 있다.
